1999年より新幹線の車輪と車軸（輪軸）の長期信頼性評価と革新的欠陥診断技術に関する研究が機械・知能系を中心に行われており、
この輪軸はJR東日本より寄贈されたものである。
Axle ＆Wheels of Super Express Train (SHINKANSEN)
A comprehensive research on long term reliability and innovative nondestructive evaluation of axle &
wheel for Super Express Train (SHINKANSEN) has been carried out in the Systems Science and Mechanical Engineering Group since 1999.
This axle & wheels was donated by East Japan Railway Company in 2000.
